【Research topics】

    Muye Yang is engaged in the fatigue and corrosion damages and relevant deterioration

mechanism of steel structures. Her main scientific interest is in the areas of fatigue strength evaluation, anti-corrosion technology, durability prediction, etc. She was committed to enhancing structural durability and improving maintenance benefits through green operation management.

    In the previous study, the time-varying structural performance degradation mechanism was clarified under the multiphase action of environmental factors and loads, based on the deterioration characteristics of fatigue or corrosion damages in-situ. The interdisciplinary research was conducted by integrating advanced technologies in mechanics, electrochemistry, and so forth. The fundamental studies on the occurrence mechanism and coupled deterioration laws of fatigue, corrosion, and co-existing damages have been completed. Besides, the theoretical and technical research was also performed on the corrosion-resistant, anti-corrosion performance, and repair mechanisms of painted steel structures in various environments. Principle test methods include the atmospheric exposure tests in extreme climates at multiple latitudes, field measurement of environment and loads, multi-scale fatigue tests, specific surface treatment process, spatial statistics, microscopic characterization analysis, etc. The results have formed a systematic evaluation and repair theory for the damage of steel structures in-situ, which provides crucial theoretical support for the full-life design of new structures and the maintenance works for old facilities.
