【Research Subject】
We are challenging a new research field that crosses several academic fields such as chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, spatial statistics, and mechanics to study the aging of steel structures due to corrosion. Based on these research results, we are developing new technologies such as micro-corrosion environment evaluation at the structural part level, aging evaluation of corrosion damage, non-contact nondestructive inspection of corroded parts, and sacrificial anodes in the atmosphere that can be used in practical applications. By integrating these technologies, we are developing a simulator that can evaluate and predict the aging degradation of steel structures in various environments, such as atmospheric and marine environments, with high accuracy at the member level. The research on fatigue, which is a conventional research area, is also being continued, mainly from the mechanical viewpoint, for steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy structures.
